Analysis of Acoustic Emission Activity during Progressive Failure in Heterogeneous Materials: Experimental and Numerical Investigation

چکیده
This work focuses on an experimental and numerical investigation into monitoring damage in a cube-shaped concrete specimen under compression. Experimental uses acoustic emission (AE) signals acquired by two independent measurement apparatuses, the same process is numerically simulated with lattice discrete element method (LDEM). The results from experiment simulation are then compared terms of their failure load, final configurations, evolution global parameters based AE signals, such as b-value coefficient natural time approach. It concluded that analysis present significant sensitivity to characteristics acquisition systems. However, methods more robust for determining differences, indicating general tendency all three data sets.

The effective shear and bulk viscosity, as well as dynamic viscosity, describe the rheological properties of the ceramic body during the liquid phase sintering process. The rheological parameters depend on the physical and thermo-mechanical characteristics of the material such as relative density, temperature, grain size, diffusion coefficient, and activation energy. Thermal behavior of the cer...
متن کاملsimulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water
abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
Self-similar Extrapolation for the Law of Acoustic Emission before Failure of Heterogeneous Materials
Acoustic emission before the failure of heterogeneous materials is studied as a function of applied hydrostatic pressure. A formula for the energy release is suggested, which is valid in the whole diapason of pressures, from zero to the critical pressure of rupture. This formula is obtained by employing the extrapolation technique of the self-similar approximation theory. The result is fitted t...
متن کاملMesoscale analysis of failure in quasi‐brittle materials: comparison between lattice model and acoustic emission data
The purpose of this paper is to analyse the development and the evolution of the fracture process zone during fracture and damage in quasi-brittle materials. A model taking into account the material details at the mesoscale is used to describe the failure process at the scale of the heterogeneities. This model is used to compute histograms of the relative distances between damaged points. These...
